Deborah on the left, with friends Peter, in the middle, and Judy (on the right). Photo was taken in Shanghai by a Japanese photographer who was looking for well-dressed children for a propaganda shot. Deborah was attending a reunion meeting with Judy when they found the original photo hanging on the wall! The girls had stayed in touch for years and Judy actually introduced Deborah to her husband, Ed.


Taken in front of our school in 1949, the day before Ilie left Shanghai. The family didn’t know if they would ever see each other again.
